Iconic Actor Joins Marvel for Exciting Adventure

by Isabella Feb 20,2025

Harrison Ford remains unfazed by the critical and commercial underperformance of "Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny," simply stating, "s**t happens." He revealed his decision to join the Marvel Cinematic Universe was driven by a desire for a "good time."

In an interview with The Wall Street Journal Magazine, the Star Wars icon acknowledged his own initiative in pursuing a fifth Indiana Jones film, believing there was "another story to tell." However, he expressed indifference towards the film's negative critical reception and estimated $100 million loss.

Ford explained his motivation for returning to the role: "When [Indy] had suffered the consequences of his life, I wanted one more chance to dust him off and see what happened," he said. "I’m still happy I made that movie."

This latest cinematic venture hasn't deterred him from embracing another iconic franchise. Ford's MCU debut in "Captain America: Brave New World" sees him taking over the role of Thaddeus Ross from the late William Hurt, with the character's transformation into Red Hulk playing a significant part in the narrative.

Interestingly, Ford joined the MCU before being fully aware of this transformation. He hadn't even seen a script for "Brave New World," his decision based solely on the apparent enjoyment of other actors within the franchise.

"Why not? I saw enough Marvel films to see actors I admired having a good time," Ford explained. "I didn’t really know I’d turn into the Red Hulk. It’s like life—you only get so far in the kit until the last page of the instructions is missing."

"Captain America: Brave New World," slated for a February 14th release, is anticipated to be one of the shorter MCU films. It marks Anthony Mackie's debut as Captain America, replacing Chris Evans' Steve Rogers, and promises to introduce lesser-known characters from Marvel's extensive lore, including a significant payoff related to the long-awaited appearance of The Leader, teased in "The Incredible Hulk."
