MAME4droid (0.37b5)
MAME4droid, crafted by David Valdeita (Seleuco), is an Android adaptation of iMAME4all, originally designed for jailbroken iPhones and iPads. This emulator is a port of MAME 0.37b5, developed by Nicola Salmoria and the MAME Team, and it draws its roots from GP2X, WIZ MAME4ALL 2.5 by Franxis. MAME4droid is capable of running over 2000 different arcade game romsets, including those supported by MAME 0.37b5 and some from newer versions.
Given the vast number of games supported, performance can vary. Some games may run smoothly, while others might not run at all on MAME4droid. Users should be aware that specific game requests cannot be accommodated via email. Owners of older devices, in particular, should not anticipate top-notch performance. To enhance gameplay, consider lowering sound quality or turning it off, using 8-bit depth, underclocking the CPU and sound CPUs, and disabling stick and button animations as well as smooth scaling.
To get started, place your MAME-compatible zipped ROMs in the /sdcard/ROMs/MAME4all/roms folder after installation. MAME4droid is compatible solely with MAME4droid and iMAME4all romsets, specifically '0.37b5' and 'GP2X, WIZ 0.37b11 mame romset'. To convert ROMs from other MAME versions, utilize the "clrmame.dat" file located in /sdcard/ROMs/MAME4all/ and the ClrMAME Pro utility, accessible at http://mamedev.emulab.it/clrmamepro/. Please note, MAME4droid does not support save states as it is based on a version of MAME that lacks this feature.
