"New Alien: Earth Trailer Unveiled, Showcasing Xenomorph and Nod to 1979 Classic"
A new trailer for the highly anticipated series Alien: Earth has surfaced online, giving fans an exciting glimpse into what awaits them this summer on Disney+. The trailer, initially showcased at Disney's 2025 Annual Meeting of Shareholders, was shared on the @CineGeekNews X/Twitter account, capturing the intense survival scenario of a spaceship crew battling a Xenomorph and on a collision course with Earth.
The trailer not only introduces a fresh Xenomorph design but also impresses with its striking resemblance to the aesthetic of Ridley Scott’s 1979 classic Alien. A scene set within a MU/TH/UR control room strikingly similar to the one on the Nostromo heightens the nostalgia, echoing the moment when Ripley uncovers the dire fate of her crew.
In the trailer, we witness a crew member desperately seeking help as the Xenomorph closes in. Meanwhile, Morrow, portrayed by Babou Ceesay, appears detached, announcing the escape of the "specimens" and declaring the crew dead. He sets the ship's trajectory towards Earth, setting the stage for an impending disaster. The trailer then shifts focus to a squad of six soldiers advancing toward what is likely the crash site, hinting at a grim outcome.
This teaser raises numerous intriguing questions: Will Morrow survive? What drives his actions? Are there any other survivors, and could any of them be carrying a Xenomorph embryo? The fate of the soldiers also remains uncertain, leaving fans eager for more answers.
Alien: Earth promises a thrilling narrative where a mysterious crashed vessel brings a young woman, played by Sydney Chandler, and a group of tactical soldiers into direct confrontation with Earth's most formidable threat.
Set in the year 2120, Alien: Earth fits neatly into the franchise's timeline, occurring after Prometheus and just before the events of the original Alien. This placement has led to speculation that the series might explore the departure of the Nostromo from Earth or the origins of Weyland-Yutani's interest in Xenomorphs. It's worth noting that the recently released Alien: Romulus is an interquel set between Alien and Aliens.
Showrunner Noah Hawley has made it clear that Alien: Earth will steer away from the backstory introduced in Prometheus. In a statement from last year, Hawley expressed his preference for the "retro-futurism" of the original films and mentioned his discussions with Ridley Scott about the series' direction. Ultimately, Hawley chose to focus on the lore of the initial movies, distancing the series from the bioweapon narrative.
Fans can look forward to Alien: Earth premiering on Hulu in the summer of 2025. Additionally, Alien: Romulus 2 is also in development, promising more thrilling adventures in the Alien universe.
