AMC Slashes Wednesday Ticket Prices by 50% in July to Boost Mid-Week Attendance

by Leo May 29,2025

Wednesday is about to become the cinephile's new favorite day of the week, thanks to AMC Theaters' announcement of a mid-week discount bonanza. Starting July 9, all-day Wednesday ticket prices will be slashed in half, based on the standard adult evening ticket price. This unprecedented move aims to revitalize mid-week attendance, a period often plagued by sluggish ticket sales.

The excitement doesn't stop there—premium showings like IMAX and 4DX will also enjoy the 50% discount. For families and groups, this is a game-changer, given the steep prices typically associated with these formats.

Moviegoing has faced significant challenges since the pandemic disrupted the industry, leading to a noticeable dip in ticket revenue. Although progress has been gradual, AMC CEO Adam Aron remains optimistic. He noted that the initial dip in ticket sales during the first quarter was an anomaly, quickly rectified by the stellar performances of A Minecraft Movie and Sinners. Since April 1, ticket sales have surged, validating the CEO's confidence.

With blockbusters like Mission: Impossible — The Final Reckoning, Disney's Lilo and Stitch, Superman, and The Fantastic Four: First Steps on the horizon, the summer box office is poised for a comeback. AMC's new initiative is expected to play a pivotal role in driving these numbers even higher.
