AMD Radeon RX 9060 XT Confirmed: Official Release Announced
AMD has officially unveiled the Radeon RX 9060 XT at Computex 2025, marking a strategic follow-up to the earlier launch of the RX 9070 XT in March. As expected from a mid-range offering, the company has kept details relatively under wraps for now. However, the specs we do know suggest a compelling option for budget-conscious 1080p gamers.
The Radeon RX 9060 XT comes equipped with 32 Compute Units and a generous 16GB of GDDR6 memory—making it stand out in the mid-tier segment where most competitors offer half as much VRAM. Given its compact design and lower thermal output, power consumption remains impressively low, with a Total Board Power (TBP) ranging between 150W and 182W. That’s significantly less than the RX 9070 XT, reinforcing its role as an energy-efficient alternative for mainstream gaming setups.
Of course, there are trade-offs. With just half the Compute Units and nearly half the power draw of its more powerful sibling, performance expectations should be tempered accordingly. Still, this GPU aims to deliver solid 1080p performance at a presumably accessible price point. Unfortunately, AMD has not yet disclosed official pricing or availability details, leaving fans and retailers alike in anticipation.
The Mid-Range Market Heats Up
While exact pricing remains a mystery, industry speculation places the Radeon RX 9060 XT within striking distance of competing budget GPUs like the Intel Arc B580 and the newly launched Nvidia RTX 5060. Both of these cards debuted in the $250–$300 range, with power consumption ratings of 145W and 190W respectively—putting them in close alignment with AMD’s new entry in terms of efficiency and positioning.
If the RX 9060 XT lands in that same price bracket, it could quickly become a favorite among value-driven buyers. Notably, it would be the only card in this segment to ship with 16GB of video memory—an important advantage over the 8GB found on the RTX 5060 and the 12GB offered by the Arc B580. This larger frame buffer could provide better longevity as future games continue to demand more VRAM, giving AMD a unique edge in a competitive market.
Ultimately, real-world performance will determine how well the RX 9060 XT holds up against its rivals. But if early specs are any indication, and assuming the final price reflects its positioning, this GPU could emerge as one of the most attractive options for budget 1080p gaming in the months ahead. Stay tuned for deeper benchmarks and analysis once units become available for testing.
