Recent Windows 11 Update Disrupts Assassin's Creed Gameplay; Patches Released

Following a Windows 11 update (24H2), several Assassin's Creed players encountered game launch and functionality issues. Ubisoft has addressed this problem with title updates for Assassin's Creed Origins and Assassin's Creed Valhalla, available via Steam. These patches, requiring 230 MB and 500 MB of storage space respectively, should resolve the incompatibility.

However, the issue persists for some Ubisoft titles, notably Assassin's Creed Odyssey. While previous patches addressed similar problems in Star Wars: Outlaws and Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora, performance issues may remain. Players of Assassin's Creed Odyssey are advised to postpone updating to Windows 11 24H2 until a dedicated patch is released.

The root cause of the incompatibility with the Windows 11 24H2 update remains unclear. Although Ubisoft has swiftly addressed the problem for Origins and Valhalla, the delayed response highlights a potential oversight in pre-release testing. This is particularly concerning given Microsoft's push for Windows 10 users to upgrade to Windows 11. The majority of games appear unaffected, but this incident underscores the potential for unforeseen complications following major system updates.
