Assassin’s Creed Shadows: Free Content and Story Updates Planned for a Year

The much-anticipated Assassin’s Creed Shadows has unveiled its exciting year 1 post-launch roadmap, promising a slew of engaging updates and free content for players in the months ahead. Having been released for over a month, Ubisoft is committed to enhancing the gaming experience with new story and gameplay elements.

Year 1 Post-Launch Roadmap

On May 1, Ubisoft took to Twitter (X) to share their detailed plan for Assassin’s Creed Shadows (AC Shadows). A highlight of the roadmap is the introduction of new Story Drops—free content that will enrich the game with additional quests. These updates will not only bring new player abilities and allies but also new world activities and deeper narratives for beloved characters, significantly expanding the main game's universe.

In addition to the Story Drops, Ubisoft has also announced the upcoming first expansion, The Claws of Awaji, set to launch later this year. This DLC will take players to the new region of Awaji island, available to explore post-epilogue of the base game. Players can look forward to facing new enemies, mastering new abilities for both protagonists, and wielding an exclusive new weapon for Naoe.
