Assassin's Creed: Shadows May Launch on Switch 2

by Samuel Apr 27,2026

Assassin's Creed: Shadows could be headed to the Nintendo Switch 2, and recent comments from Ubisoft executives appear to strongly hint at its release.

During the company's latest quarterly earnings call, CEO Yves Guillemot and CFO Frederick Duguet offered several subtle and not-so-subtle remarks. Taken together, these statements strongly suggest a Switch 2 version of the game is planned for release within this fiscal year.

First, Duguet noted that Ubisoft's lineup for the current fiscal year (which ends in March 2026) includes "a couple of other titles" to be "announced at a later stage."

Later in the call, responding to an investor question, he added, "And we also have a game that will be launched on the Switch 2." While Star Wars: Outlaws is already confirmed for the platform, Duguet was referring to games "beyond the announced releases," indicating at least one more title is coming.

Guillemot then added another clue. When discussing Assassin's Creed: Shadows with another investor, he stated, "And we have also some new versions that will come on other machines."

Currently, Assassin's Creed: Shadows is available on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, PC, Mac, GeForce Now, and Amazon Luna. While Guillemot could have been referring to other platforms like last-gen consoles or mobile, his comment, paired with Duguet's, makes the Nintendo Switch 2 the most likely candidate.

An investor later echoed this speculation, directly asking Duguet if Assassin's Creed: Shadows was being announced for the Switch 2.

This time, Duguet was more evasive, responding, "We haven't said which other games will come on the console for that coming year."

Rumors of a Switch 2 version have circulated for months, fueled further by a PEGI rating for such a release. While possibly an error, it adds to the growing evidence that Shadows will arrive on Nintendo's new system within approximately the next eight months.

We were impressed with Assassin's Creed: Shadows at launch. Our reviewer, who scored it 8/10, said, "By sharpening the edges of its existing systems, Assassin’s Creed Shadows delivers one of the best iterations of the open-world formula it has perfected over the last decade."
