Atelier Resleriana Global EOS Announcement: Forgotten Alchemy and Polar Night Liberator

Another mobile game has met its end, and this time it's Atelier Resleriana: Forgotten Alchemy and the Polar Night Liberator that has announced its End of Service (EOS). Koei Tecmo and Akatsuki Games have recently shared the news that their RPG will be shutting down its global version soon.

The global version, launched just over a year ago in January 2024, did not meet performance expectations. We'll delve into the reasons behind this EOS later on. However, it's important to note that the Japanese version continues to thrive and has no plans to shut down anytime soon. Having been launched in September 2023, it's preparing to celebrate its 1.5th anniversary in March 2025, which adds a layer of irony to the situation. Why? Read on to find out.

When Is the Atelier Resleriana EOS?

The irony lies in the timing: the EOS of the global version coincides with the 1.5th anniversary celebration of the Japanese version. The global shutdown is scheduled for March 28th, 2025. While Japanese players will be exploring Chapter 22 (Part 2), global players will be concluding their journey at Chapter 21 (Part 1).

The in-game purchase system is already disabled, but players can still use any remaining Lodestar Gems until the end. Koei Tecmo has committed to providing new content and events leading up to the shutdown.

Adding to the irony, the global version celebrated its first anniversary just a few days ago on January 25th. So, it's a bittersweet "happy anniversary, now pack your bags" moment for the global community.

Why Is It Shutting Down?

The developers have released a notice stating that, after evaluating their ability to maintain a satisfactory standard for players, they've decided to shut down the game. This decision stems from the game's failure to make a significant impact on its player base.

A few months after its launch, the game received criticism for its gacha system. Despite having excellent main characters, the gameplay and monetization strategies, along with an overwhelming power creep, did not meet player expectations.

These factors ultimately led to the announcement of the EOS for the global version of Atelier Resleriana. If you're interested in bidding farewell, you can still find the game on the Google Play Store.
