Avowed Targets 60FPS on Xbox Series X

by Riley May 06,2025

Obsidian Entertainment's highly anticipated role-playing game, Avowed, is set to deliver a smooth 60 frames per second experience on the Xbox Series X. Game director Carrie Patel shared this exciting detail with MinnMax, confirming that players can achieve up to 60fps on Microsoft's premium console. However, those playing on the Xbox Series S will be capped at 30fps, as previously announced.

It remains uncertain whether Avowed will feature the now-common performance and graphics modes. Typically, performance mode prioritizes 60fps with reduced visual quality, while graphics mode offers enhanced visuals at 30fps. It's yet to be clarified if the Xbox Series X version will naturally hit 60fps in its default setting.

Scheduled for release on February 13, Avowed comes with a price tag of $89.99 for early access. Fans opting for the standard $69.99 version will have to wait until February 18, a strategy increasingly adopted by publishers, though recently abandoned by Ubisoft.

Avowed unfolds in the rich universe of Pillars of Eternity, presenting a first-person fantasy RPG where player choices significantly impact the narrative. The game delves into themes of war, mystery, and intrigue, allowing players to explore a vast world and build relationships or enmities with its inhabitants.

In IGN's Final Preview, Avowed received acclaim for its engaging conversations, extensive player freedom, and overall enjoyment, with IGN stating, "Avowed is just a lot of fun."
