Cyberpunk 2077 enthusiasts were once thrilled at the prospect of an ambitious DLC that would have taken players to the Moon. However, this cosmic expansion was ultimately shelved, leaving fans to wonder what could have been. Blogger and dataminer SirMZK has unearthed leaks and files from the game's code, providing a glimpse into CD Projekt RED's grand plans for this space-themed adventure.

Within the game's files, there are references to lunar surface maps, specific zones like the Exterior Movie Set and Drug Lab, and even a model of a rover. The Moon location was envisioned to be expansive, possibly covering a quarter of Night City's size, and designed as an open world. This would have introduced a whole new layer to the gameplay, transporting players far beyond the familiar neon-lit streets.

A highlight of the proposed DLC was the Crystal Palace, an elite space station. Although it didn't make it into the final game, players can spot the Crystal Palace in one of the endings when V peers out of a spaceship window. Furthermore, the files reveal a prototype for a zero-gravity bar connected to a cut quest labeled "201," which was linked to the Arasaka storyline.

Hope remains among fans that these intriguing concepts might find new life in CD Projekt RED's upcoming project, Orion, which aims to further expand the Cyberpunk universe. However, there has been no official word from the studio on whether these ideas will be revisited.

Though the Moon DLC remains a distant dream, the uncovered details offer a captivating vision of what might have been—a daring leap for Cyberpunk 2077 into unexplored realms, seamlessly blending space exploration with the game's iconic cyberpunk atmosphere.
