Dark and Darker Mobile is now Abyss of Dungeons in long-awaited name change

by Jacob May 25,2025

Krafton has taken a significant step to distance themselves from Ironmace Studios' ongoing legal issues with Nexon by rebranding Dark and Darker Mobile to Abyss of Dungeons. This rebranding primarily involves a name change, along with the likely removal or modification of certain Dungeons & Dragons-specific elements.

For those not following the story, Ironmace Studios has been locked in a legal battle with Nexon, who allege that Ironmace misused trade secrets. Nexon claims that Ironmace, founded by former Nexon employees, utilized assets and ideas developed during their tenure at Nexon to create Dark and Darker. The lawsuit remains unresolved, and as previously reported in February, there were indications that Dark and Darker Mobile might undergo a name change. That speculation has now been confirmed with the new title, Abyss of Dungeons.

No Difference in Gameplay

The good news is that the name change does not seem to affect the core gameplay mechanics. Dark and Darker Mobile had already introduced significant changes, such as a third-person perspective, and these alterations remain intact. Fans of Ironmace might feel a bit disappointed, but there's hope that the studio's legal troubles will resolve soon. This rebranded mobile game, Abyss of Dungeons, can potentially serve as a companion to the main PC release of Dark and Darker.

An upcoming soft launch is scheduled for June 11th in Brazil, Thailand, Indonesia, and Mexico, giving players in these regions a first look at Abyss of Dungeons.
