Darth Jar Jar Joins Fortnite: Unlock Him After Earning 1 Million XP

by Nora May 26,2025

Fortnite's Star Wars season has just unveiled its most anticipated skin yet, introducing Darth Jar Jar to the game. However, acquiring this skin comes with a significant challenge: players must grind through 1.28 million XP before they can even purchase it from the Fortnite Shop. Even after reaching this XP milestone, Darth Jar Jar still requires an additional 1500 V-Bucks, approximately $13.

While Fortnite has previously locked skins behind XP requirements, this move marks a notable exception, especially given the high anticipation surrounding Darth Jar Jar as a key cosmetic item in the current Star Wars season. With the season set to end on June 7, time is running out for players to accumulate the necessary XP, adding pressure to those who've already completed their battle pass.

The community's response has been mixed. One fan expressed frustration on Reddit, stating, "I was so hyped for this skin and was fine with it being behind a pay wall, after all it is just another skin. But this whole locked behind an XP wall is ridiculous. You want me to earn the right to give you money? I immediately closed the game." The simultaneous release of a regular Jar Jar Binks skin, which is available without an XP requirement but also costs 1500 V-Bucks, has further fueled discontent. Collectively, the full range of Jar Jar Binks accessories for both the Sith and Gungan variants could set players back 6,500 V-Bucks, leading some to argue that it's an expensive proposition for what should have been a single skin with multiple styles.

"Ignore him, and your Fortnite locker will be as free of the character as George Lucas wanted to be after the backlash to Phantom Menace hit," one player noted. Another shared a more positive experience, saying, "It wasn't that hard to earn the XP; it took me around 8/9 hours. I had no plans on Saturday. I did it in 3 sittings, but all in one day. I played Rocket Racing and Ranked and did Alignment Challenges to farm as much XP as possible. Nothing is making anyone get every item in the Shop; you can just pick and choose, and the fact he was just 1500 V-Bucks when Deathstroke was 1,800 V-Bucks, I wasn't bothered at all by the price. I was pissed off at first, then I realized after a couple of hours that I had over 300,000 XP already."

As Fortnite's Star Wars season progresses, attention shifts to upcoming content featuring Mandalorian warriors, with a new customizable Mandalorian skin set to debut in the game's Shop. The season will culminate in a live narrative event on June 7, where players anticipate engaging with the Death Star that has loomed over the game's Island since the season began.

In other news, Epic Games' ongoing legal battle with Apple intensified earlier this month when Fortnite was blocked from returning to the iPhone App Store in the US.
