How To Defeat Zhang Jiao In Dynasty Warriors: Origins

In *Dynasty Warriors: Origins*, one of the earliest and most formidable challenges players will encounter is the battle against Zhang Jiao, the leader of the Yellow Turbans. Here's a detailed guide on how to defeat him, ensuring you can progress smoothly through the game.

How to Fight Zhang Jiao's First Phase

The first phase pits you against Zhang Jiao in a one-on-one duel in a vast wasteland. His primary weapon is sorcery, used to hurl stones at you. When you're close, he'll summon four stones, which you need to dodge swiftly. If you keep your distance, he'll double the number of stones, launching them in pairs. The best strategy here is to keep moving around him to evade these projectiles. If you find yourself too close when he summons a large batch of stones, quickly gain some distance to avoid taking significant damage.

While Zhang Jiao excels at long-range attacks, he also has some close-combat moves. He can execute simple combos that you can parry, and he has an Area of Effect (AOE) attack that pushes you back. Watch for him glowing white, signaling an incoming AOE; back away to avoid damage.

As the fight progresses, Zhang Jiao will use moves marked by a red aura, indicating uninterruptible attacks. These include summoning numerous rocks to drop around him and creating clones. The best tactic during these moments is to retreat and wait for the attack to conclude before resuming your assault. Equip a sword for this phase, as it delivers more damage compared to spears or gauntlets.

Managing your health is crucial. You'll likely have the opportunity to heal up to four times, depending on your upgraded skills. Remember, there are jars near the arena entrance containing meat buns, which you can use to heal. Whenever you need to recover, retreat to the entrance and grab some buns.

How to Fight Zhang Jiao's Second Phase

Once you unlock Musou Rage, the second phase kicks off with the Yellow Turbans joining Zhang Jiao. Fortunately, your army will also appear to support you, giving you some respite. This is an ideal time to heal by dashing to the entrance and grabbing those meat buns. Watch out for the tornados Zhang Jiao summons, which can throw you off balance as you fight his soldiers.

After thinning out his troops, Zhang Jiao will initiate a Grand Tactic, requiring you to defeat 300 soldiers within a tight timeframe to prevent a devastating attack. Complicating matters, he'll also summon lightning strikes across the arena. Keep an eye on the ground for closing rings, evading just as they flash. The most effective way to meet the soldier count is by using Musou Mode, which can take down dozens at once if timed correctly. Although Musou Rage Mode is available, sticking to the basic Musou Mode might be more efficient given the time pressure.

Successfully thwarting Zhang Jiao's Grand Tactic twice will bring him back to the battlefield, employing the same strategies from the first phase. With your army's help, finishing him off should be straightforward, concluding Chapter 1.

That's the strategy to conquer Zhang Jiao in *Dynasty Warriors: Origins*. The game is now available on PS5, PC, and Xbox Series X/S, ready for you to dive into this epic adventure.
