Get a Dell or Alienware GeForce RTX 4090 Prebuilt Gaming PC for as Low as $2,850

by Gabriella Apr 24,2025

The GeForce RTX 4090, though a generation older than the new Blackwell 50 series GPUs, remains one of the most powerful graphics cards available, surpassing the performance of the RTX 5080, RTX 4080 Super, Radeon RX 9070 XT, and RX 7900 XTX. The only GPU that outperforms it is the RTX 5090, which is notoriously difficult to find at its original price due to high demand and markups.

As the RTX 4090 has been discontinued, it's becoming increasingly challenging to find. However, Dell offers two prebuilt gaming PC models that can be equipped with this powerhouse GPU at competitive prices. The Alienware Aurora R16 starts at $3,299.99, while the Dell Tower Plus is available from $2,849.99. These are among the best deals currently available for an RTX 4090-equipped system, as other major manufacturers like Lenovo and HP have phased out their RTX 4090 prebuilt options.

This Alienware Aurora R16 comes equipped with an Intel Core Ultra 7 265F CPU, a GeForce RTX 4090 GPU, 16GB of DDR5-5200MHz RAM, and a 1TB NVMe SSD. The CPU can be upgraded to an Intel Core Ultra 9 285K, though for gaming-focused users, the default Intel Core Ultra 7 265F is more than sufficient. With a max turbo frequency of 5.3GHz and 20 cores, it's powered by a robust 240mm all-in-one liquid cooler and a 1,000W 80PLUS Platinum power supply.

The Dell Tower Plus offers similar specs, including an Intel Core Ultra 7 265F CPU, a GeForce RTX 4090 GPU, 16GB of DDR5-5200MHz RAM, and a 1TB NVMe SSD. For an additional $100, upgrading to the Intel Core Ultra 7 285K is recommended. This upgrade not only provides a superior processor but also enhances the CPU cooling from standard to advanced air cooling, which supports a higher 125W TDP. The system is powered by a 1,000W 80PLUS Platinum power supply.

How does the RTX 4090 stack up against current cards?

The RTX 4090 is the top performer among the RTX 40 series GPUs. Only the RTX 5090, with a $2,000 MSRP, surpasses it. This card can handle any game at 4K resolution, delivering over 60fps with all settings maxed out and ray tracing enabled, especially when DLSS is supported. The only setting where the RTX 4090 struggles, along with other GPUs, is path tracing, which is typically used in benchmarks rather than regular gameplay. For most gamers, the RTX 4090 offers more than enough power, making the RTX 5090's superior performance less necessary.

Nvidia GeForce RTX 4090 GPU Review by Chris Coke

"The RTX 4090 may be huge and expensive, but it truly outshines the competition. Being the only available card of its new generation, comparisons are limited to older models. However, with its impressive hardware specs and DLSS 3 AI technology, the $1,599 price tag feels justified given the unparalleled frame rates it achieves."
