Uncover All Templar Hideouts in Assassin's Creed Shadows - Spoiler Warning

by Henry Sep 22,2025

SPOILER ALERT: This guide reveals details about Yasuke’s backstory and Templar roles in Assassin’s Creed Shadows.

When Yasuke learns of dangerous figures from his past stirring in Japan, the Yasuke’s Past missions task players with completing the Templar Hunt Objective Board. Here’s how to locate every Templar target in Assassin’s Creed Shadows, beginning with Kimura Kei.

Locating Templar Kimura Kei in Assassin’s Creed Shadows

Your first clue to Kimura Kei’s whereabouts comes from a ronin in Kii. Find him at the inn on the central Nakahechi Route in Takahara Village. If needed, deploy Scouts to pinpoint his location. Look for a building adorned with green flags near a cherry blossom tree. Inside, a ronin in Oda Clan attire awaits. Speak with him to learn about a recruiter named Kumabe Ujiie.

Finding Kumabe Ujiie

Kumabe Ujiie resides in northern Kii at a cemetery in Koyasan, northeast of Kongobuji Temple. He’s accompanied by his ronin escorts, but avoid confrontation. Approach him, select the “I seek guidance” dialogue option, and follow him to receive Kimura Kei’s location.

Assassinating Kimura Kei

Kimura Kei’s Training Grounds lie in southwest Kii, just north of the shore, midway between Sazae Oni Shores and Nakahechi Route. Join the students to reach him. When Kimura Kei spots Yasuke, he orders his followers to attack.

Surrounded by hostile ronin, Yasuke must fight through waves of enemies en route to Kimura Kei. Equip your best armor and weapons. Use explosive red barrels along the path, shooting them with your bow or teppo to clear groups of foes efficiently.

Upon reaching Kimura Kei, a boss fight begins, and stealth assassination isn’t an option. Equip armor engravings that allow parrying unblockable attacks, as he uses them frequently. This battle unfolds in multiple phases.

In the first phase, Kimura Kei wields a standard Katana. Parry his strikes to expose vulnerabilities and use posture attacks to weaken his armor. As his armor nears breaking, he switches to a Long Katana and standard Katana, unleashing more unblockable attacks. Focus on dodging and landing precise strikes between his moves.

When Kimura Kei’s health drops to half, the fight shifts outdoors. His dual Katana attacks become highly damaging and unblockable. Dodge frequently, maintain distance, and use your bow or teppo for ranged attacks to gain the upper hand.

Rewards for Defeating Kimura Kei

Defeating Kimura Kei grants 3,000 XP, Mon currency, and the Templar-themed Destroyer Samurai Armor and Helmet. The armor reduces enemy attack impact, while the helmet boosts Yasuke’s damage by 10% for every 10% of health lost.

Tracking Down the Silver Queen

After defeating the Shinbakufu, the Silver Queen appears on the Templar Board, collaborating with Portuguese forces pillaging Tamba. Like Kimura Kei, you must first contact a spy to proceed.

Locating and Speaking with the Spy

Find the spy in Southeast Tamba’s Silver Lands, seated on a rug under a small structure beside a wooden cart and crates. Speak with him to obtain the Silver Queen’s location.

Meeting the Silver Queen

The Silver Queen is in Tada, northeast of Tada Kakurega, conversing with Portuguese soldiers. Approach her, follow her to her house for tea, and awaken in Tada Silver Mine.

Escaping Tada Silver Mine

After waking from drugged tea in a locked room in Tada Silver Mine, sprint into the door to break it open. Eliminate guards who spot you, then sneak or fight southwest to escape. Sneaking is faster and more efficient; kill only necessary enemies and exit the area.

Finding Akechi Mitsuyoshi

The Silver Queen demands Yasuke rescue her brother for information on his true target. After escaping Tada Silver Mine, head north to Kameyama Castle. Restock ammo or rations at the Kakurega north of Senneji Temple upon entering Kameyama.

Use Pathfinder to navigate Kameyama Castle, eliminating guards along the suggested path. In the living quarters, find a dying servant who provides a key to the castle’s Tenshu.

Freeing Akechi Mitsuyoshi and Recovering His Katana

With the Tenshu key, enter the main castle building beneath the Viewpoint and access the marked door holding Akechi Mitsuyoshi. Escort him out, using your bow or teppo to eliminate distant threats. After his escape, re-enter the castle to retrieve his Katana from Baltazar. Clear surrounding soldiers first, then use abilities and posture attacks to break Baltazar’s guard for quick, vulnerable strikes.

After defeating Baltazar and recovering the Katana, head north to Atago Shrine. Speak with Akechi Mitsuyoshi and follow him to the Shrine to receive the next target’s location.

Locating and Eliminating Nuno Caro

Yasuke’s final target, Nuno Caro, is preparing to flee Japan from Takeda Castle in Western Tamba. The castle sits atop a mountain at the end of a winding path, so activate Pathfinder for the quickest route.

Takeda Castle is heavily guarded with alarm bells that enemies can trigger. Since stealth is challenging for Yasuke, disable bells with your bow or teppo. Climb the castle and interact with the double doors to initiate the Nuno Caro encounter.

Pursue Nuno Caro, eliminating his men as you ascend Takeda Castle. At the top, a boss fight begins. Nuno Caro uses a sword and pistol, delivering up to four-swipe sword combos that you can block or parry. Dodge when his pistol glows red. Cycle high-damage abilities to make him vulnerable, then strike. Repeat until he’s defeated, completing the Templar Hunt Objective Board.

Assassin’s Creed Shadows is available from March 20th on PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S.
