Locating Merchantburg (???)

After obtaining the ship from the King of Portoga (following the Black Pepper quest), Merchantburg is accessible. Its quest marker appears in the northeast corner of the world map. Sail west from the coast to reach the easternmost edge of the eastern continent.

Optimal Timing for Merchantburg

While orb acquisition order is flexible, establishing Merchantburg early is recommended. Its growth takes time, so starting early allows you to collect other orbs concurrently.

Establishing Merchantburg and Acquiring the Yellow Orb

1. Hire a Merchant: Before visiting Merchantburg, hire a new merchant from PALS in Aliahan. Minimize combat en route.

2. Founding the Town: In Merchantburg's sole building, speak to the old man. He'll need a merchant to establish the town. Offer your newly hired merchant. The town will then be named after your merchant (e.g., Christopherburg if you named him Christopher).

3. Merchantburg's Growth: After establishing Merchantburg, continue acquiring the Purple Orb (Orochi's Lair) and Blue Orb (Gaia's Navel). You'll receive notifications prompting you to revisit Merchantburg as it expands through five stages. The fourth visit will see the town's cabaret built, and your merchant's popularity may begin to wane.

4. The Revolt: On your fifth visit (at night), you'll find your merchant imprisoned following a town revolt. Speak to him; he'll reveal the Yellow Orb's location.

5. Retrieving the Yellow Orb: Return to the merchant's former home. A quest marker will appear behind the sofa. Interact with the ground to uncover the Yellow Orb.
