Dungeons & Dragons Live Action Netflix Series in the Works, Could Launch a ‘D&D Universe’

Netflix is developing a live-action Dungeons & Dragons series based on the Forgotten Realms setting, according to Deadline. The project is spearheaded by Shawn Levy (director of Deadpool and Free Guy), with Drew Crevello (WeCrashed) serving as writer and showrunner. This marks a significant investment for Netflix in the fantasy genre, potentially launching a larger D&D universe on the platform. While Netflix and Hasbro haven't commented, Deadline reports that after extensive negotiations, the series is moving forward into development.

While the Netflix series is in development, there's currently no news regarding a sequel to the well-received Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves. Despite Chris Pine expressing interest and confidence in a sequel, Paramount Pictures' CEO, Brian Robbins, has indicated that a sequel would only happen with a significantly reduced budget. In the meantime, Amazon's Secret Level anthology series features a D&D animated segment.
