Elden Ring Adds Two Classes in Nintendo Switch 2 Tarnished Edition

by Zoe May 14,2025

Elden Ring is set to make its way to the Nintendo Switch 2 with the exciting Tarnished Edition. This version promises to deliver a few fresh bonuses to enhance the gameplay experience, including new classes and cosmetic options for the beloved steed, Torrent.

During the "FROMSOFTWARE GAMES EVENT Spring 2025" held in Tokyo on May 6, Famitsu reported on the unveiling of new details about Elden Ring: Tarnished Edition. Among the highlights are two new character classes: the "Knight of Ides" and "Heavy Armored Knight." While specifics remain scarce beyond their names and aesthetics, these classes are part of a broader update that includes four new armor sets, two of which will be exclusive to the Tarnished Edition, with the others obtainable in-game. Additionally, FromSoftware teased the inclusion of new weapons and skills, adding even more depth to the already expansive world of Elden Ring.

For fans of the spectral horse Torrent, there's good news: three new appearances for the steed will be introduced. These cosmetic options will be included in the Elden Ring: Tarnished Edition, which also encompasses the Shadow of the Erdtree content. Importantly, these enhancements will not be exclusive to the Switch 2. FromSoftware has confirmed that the new content will be available on other platforms via the Tarnished Pack DLC, which is expected to be priced affordably according to RPG Site.

The addition of new classes is a strategic move, particularly appealing to players who might be starting fresh on the Switch 2 and looking for variety. This extra content can also entice those who have already explored Elden Ring on other platforms to dive back in with new experiences.

Elden Ring's popularity continues to soar, with the game having surpassed 30 million sales worldwide. This monumental success underscores the game's broad appeal and suggests that its arrival on the Switch 2 could further boost these impressive numbers.

As of now, no specific release date has been announced for Elden Ring: Tarnished Edition on the Nintendo Switch 2, nor for the rollout of the Tarnished Pack DLC, though both are slated for sometime in 2025.
