Millennium Falcon's New Mandalorian Upgrade: Tending to Grogu

by Joshua Dec 24,2025

Star Wars Celebration unveiled exciting new details about the upcoming Mandalorian and Grogu-themed update for Millennium Falcon: Smuggler's Run, timed with the new film. Key reveals include an expanded role for Engineers, who will be tasked with caring for Grogu, and the addition of Coruscant as a visitable planet. It joins Tatooine, Bespin, and Endor in this choose-your-own-adventure storyline.

This Smuggler's Run update launches on May 22, 2026. While it follows "a different path" from *The Mandalorian & Grogu* movie, it will feature Din Djarin and Grogu in thrilling new ways. The story begins when Hondo Ohnaka learns of a shady deal on Tatooine between ex-Imperial officers and pirates, sparking a high-stakes galactic chase. Guests will partner with Mando and Grogu to track the targets and secure a bounty in a dynamic, galaxy-spanning adventure.

While full details are still under wraps, we know the Engineer's role is significantly expanded as they will be responsible for Grogu's well-being. What could be better than that?

To learn more, we spoke with Walt Disney Imagineering's Asa Kalama, who shared further insights into what to expect.

"Throughout the mission, Engineers will have the opportunity to communicate directly with Grogu," Kalama explained. "We think it's going to be a ton of fun. There may be moments when Mando has to leave the Razor Crest, and Grogu, left unsupervised, might get a little too enthusiastic with the controls. We love creating these fun little vignettes where you're essentially on comms with Grogu."

Regarding the choose-your-own-adventure mechanic, Kalama noted a "critical moment in your adventure where you're strapped for time and must make a lightning-quick decision about which bounty to pursue. That decision becomes the inciting incident, determining which galactic destinations you visit."
