Epic Freebie: Uncover January's Game

Escape Academy is the Epic Games Store's free game offering for January 16th, 2025. This marks the fourth free game Epic has offered in 2025 and, based on its OpenCritic score, is the highest-rated title given away so far this year.

Epic Games Store users have a week to claim the game, from January 16th to 23rd.

Developed by Coin Crew Games, Escape Academy is a puzzle game in the escape-the-room style. Released in July 2022 for PC and consoles, the game casts players as students at the Escape Academy, training to become escape room experts.

This isn't Escape Academy's first appearance as a free Epic Games Store title; it was previously offered on January 1st, 2024. However, this time, players get a full week to claim it. The timing is especially beneficial for Xbox Game Pass subscribers, as Escape Academy is leaving the service on January 15th after an 18-month run.

Following Escape Academy, the fifth free game of the year will be announced on January 16th. Players who enjoy the main game can also purchase two DLC packs: Escape From Anti-Escape Island and Escape From the Past, available individually for $9.99 or as a Season Pass for $14.99.
