Genshin Impact Leak Hints at Wriothesley Rerun in Version 5.4

A recent leak suggests Wriothesley's highly anticipated return in Genshin Impact Version 5.4, ending a wait of over a year since his initial appearance. This news comes amidst ongoing challenges for Genshin Impact in balancing its character rerun schedule. With a roster exceeding 90 playable characters and limited rerun slots, ensuring fair representation for all remains a significant hurdle.

The current system, even with the introduction of the Chronicled Banner (a solution many players consider insufficient), struggles to provide timely reruns. Shenhe's lengthy wait time before her Version 5.3 rerun exemplifies this issue. Until the implementation of triple banners, extended wait times between character reruns are likely to persist.

Wriothesley, a Cryo Catalyst introduced in Version 4.1, has been absent from Event Banners since November 8, 2023. His unique Cryo hypercarry capabilities and strong performance in Burnmelt teams have made his absence keenly felt. The leak, originating from Flying Flame, indicates his potential return in Version 5.4.

Wriothesley's Potential Version 5.4 Banner: A Grain of Salt

It's crucial to approach this leak with caution. Flying Flame's track record regarding Natlan-related leaks has been inconsistent. While their prediction of a new Chronicled Banner in Version 5.3 proved accurate, other leaks have been inaccurate. However, the recent Spiral Abyss buff, which directly benefits Wriothesley's playstyle, lends some credibility to the rumor.

Version 5.4 is also anticipated to feature Mizuki, potentially Inazuma's first Standard Banner character. If both Mizuki and Wriothesley are included in the Event Banners, the remaining 5-Star slot is likely to be filled by either Furina or Venti, as they are the only Archons yet to receive sequential reruns. Version 5.4's launch is expected around February 12, 2025.
