God of War Ragnarok Celebrates Franchise's 20-Year Anniversary With Dark Odyssey Cosmetic Update Next Week

Sony and game developer Santa Monica Studio have announced the Dark Odyssey collection, an exciting new update for God of War Ragnarök that will be available to players next week. This update introduces a range of in-game equipment inspired by one of the franchise's most iconic outfits, celebrating the 20th anniversary of the God of War series.

The details of the God of War 20th anniversary celebrations were shared in a recent [PlayStation.Blog post](PlayStation.Blog post). The Dark Odyssey update, which will be free for all God of War Ragnarök players on PlayStation 5 and PC, is set to launch on March 20. This update brings a sleek, black-and-gold aesthetic to the game, enhancing the visual appeal of Kratos and his companions as they navigate the realms of Norse mythology.

Atreus and Freya will also receive unique cosmetic sets as part of this update, along with new looks for various shields and weapons. However, the highlight of the Dark Odyssey collection is undoubtedly the new armor set and appearance for Kratos, inspired by a skin originally exclusive to players who completed God of War 2 on God Mode. This coveted set can be claimed from any Lost Items chest in the base game or instantly in the roguelike Valhalla mode following the update. Additionally, players will now have the option to customize the appearance of Kratos' weapons without affecting their abilities.
