GTA 6: S-Tier Potential? Ranking All Rockstar Games

by Jacob May 13,2025

The new GTA 6 trailer has arrived, and in case you missed it, we've broken down all the secrets and details for you. Unfortunately, we'll have to wait until May 26, 2026, to dive into Lucia and Jason's story. While we wait, let's take a nostalgic trip down memory lane and rank the Rockstar games we've loved over the years.

Since its inception in 1998, Rockstar has developed and released over 30 games, including iconic series like Grand Theft Auto, Red Dead Redemption, and Manhunt. But which game reigns supreme? To keep things clear, this list excludes titles like LA Noire and Max Payne 2, focusing only on games developed by Rockstar, not just published by them. I've crafted my personal ranking using an IGN Tier List, based solely on my enjoyment of each game over the years. Here's how I've ranked them:

Rockstar Games Tier List

Red Dead Redemption 2 is undoubtedly my all-time favorite, making it an easy S-tier pick. It's joined by its predecessor and GTA 5, both of which revolutionized the cinematic open-world genre. I also have a special fondness for Max Payne 3 and its mesmerizing bullet time mechanics, as well as GTA San Andreas, which I played at an age that was perhaps a bit too young. At the bottom of the list, in the D-tier, sit titles like Austin Powers: Oh, Behave! and Welcome to My Underground Lair!—games that few would willingly revisit.

Disagree with my rankings? Think Vice City outshines GTA 4? Create your own tier list and see how your S, A, B, C, and D tiers stack up against the IGN community's rankings.
