Guide to Earning the Squid Hunter Trophy in Monster Hunter Wilds
In the expansive world of *Monster Hunter Wilds*, players can engage in a variety of intriguing activities that not only enrich their gaming experience but also reward them in unique ways. For those aiming to unlock the prestigious Monster (Squid) Hunter trophy or achievement, this guide provides a comprehensive walkthrough to help you achieve your goal.
How to Unlock the Monster (Squid) Hunter Trophy/Achievement in Monster Hunter Wilds
While fishing might not be central to the main storyline of *Monster Hunter Wilds*, it offers a delightful diversion and its own set of quests. Completing these quests is crucial to acquiring the necessary equipment for tackling the trophy and achievement.
To start, you need to advance through Kanya’s fishing questline. This involves completing several side quests where you gather the required items for her:
- Seeking the Goldenfish: Catch the elusive Goldenfish, which can be found in cave water pools. Head to the Scarlet Forest in Area 6 and use either the Golden Bughead or Common Wood Minnow baits. The Fallow weather state increases the likelihood of the fish appearing.
- Fishing for Favor: Next, you'll need to catch the Gravid Bowfin at the Scarlet Forest base camp. This task requires the Plenty weather condition. Equip the Emerald Jitterbait and cast your line to secure this fish.
- The Catch of a Lifetime!: Kanya will then challenge you to catch a Whopper. Any large fish that triggers the reeling minigame will suffice, but Tuna are commonly targeted for this quest. Visit the lake in Area 17 of the Scarlet Forest, hook a big fish, and reel it in patiently.
After completing these quests, Kanya will introduce the Razzle Dazzle quest, where you can finally unlock the Monster (Squid) Hunter trophy or achievement. Follow these steps:
- Travel to the Scarlet Forest, specifically Area 17. Ensure the weather is set to Downpour in Inclemency; you can use the grill to wait or rest at your camp to change the weather conditions.
- Walk into the deep end of the lake until you can't go further. Look for squids swimming around. If none are present, fast travel to another location and return to see if they spawn.
- Equip the Tentacle Jig provided by Kanya and begin fishing. Your primary goal is to catch the Goliath Squid, although the quest itself asks for the Grand Escunite. Look for squids with glowing blue shells.
- Once you hook a squid and the reeling minigame starts, you're on the right path. Keep reeling until the squid tires out, then pull it to the shore to claim it and unlock the trophy or achievement.
That covers everything you need to know about unlocking the Monster (Squid) Hunter trophy or achievement in *Monster Hunter Wilds*. For more tips and guides, be sure to visit The Escapist.
