Hungry Horrors Steam Demo Out Now, Mobile Soon

Hungry Horrors, the upcoming quirky roguelite deckbuilder from UK's Clumsy Bear Studio, introduces a unique twist to the genre: instead of battling monsters, you'll be cooking for them to satisfy their voracious appetites. The game has just released its first playable demo, now available on Steam, Itch, and GOG, giving players a chance to dive into its innovative gameplay.
Following its PC debut, Clumsy Bear Studio plans to bring Hungry Horrors to mobile and console platforms. Although an official release date has not yet been announced, the studio has been actively engaging with the gaming community, showcasing the game at events like the London Game Festival 2025.
The Steam demo offers a substantial preview of what's in store for players. It features two handcrafted biomes, six hungry monsters to cater to, two thrilling boss fights, and interactions with four NPCs. Additionally, non-combat zones like the Nook and the Trove provide spaces for players to regroup and refine their culinary strategies.
More About Hungry Horrors
In Hungry Horrors, you take on the role of a princess tasked with preparing traditional British and Irish dishes to appease fearsome folklore creatures. This innovative blend of deckbuilding and cooking mechanics offers a uniquely engaging experience. The game's retro pixel art style and gothic atmosphere are complemented by its humorous tone as you concoct dishes like Bara Brith and Cranachan, tailored to the specific tastes of each monster.
You'll encounter iconic creatures such as Jenny Greenteeth, the bloodthirsty swamp witch, and Black Annis, the child-snatching hag. Your culinary creations must meet their exacting standards, or you risk becoming their next meal. Understanding the preferences and aversions of each monster, from Grendel to Redcap, is crucial to your success.
The deckbuilding aspect adds a strategic layer to the game. Players must skillfully combine ingredients, utilize utensils, spices, and herbs to enhance their dishes, balancing flavors and planning meals to keep the monsters satisfied. As you progress, you'll unlock new recipes, ingredients, legendary artifacts, and rescued familiars, enhancing your culinary arsenal.
