Insomniac Games Proposed Resistance 4, Approval Denied

Insomniac Games founder and outgoing president Ted Price recently shared insights during interviews following his retirement announcement after 30 years of leading the studio. In a notable chat with Kinda Funny Games, Price was asked about a favorite game concept that never saw the light of day. His answer? "Resistance 4."

According to Price, the team at Insomniac pitched the idea for Resistance 4, describing it as a "wonderful concept." Unfortunately, due to timing and market opportunities, the project did not move forward. Price emphasized the team's passion for extending the Resistance narrative, highlighting the series' unique alternate history setting where the alien Chimera's origins and future could be explored in intriguing ways.

The Resistance series, developed by Insomniac following their Ratchet and Clank games, consists of first-person shooters set in an alternate history where aliens invade the UK in 1951. The franchise saw three entries released for the PlayStation 3 before Insomniac shifted focus to other projects such as Marvel's Spider-Man and new Ratchet and Clank titles.

Earlier this year, Ted Price announced his retirement from Insomniac Games, naming Chad Dezern, Ryan Schneider, and Jen Huang as the new Co-Studio Heads to succeed him. Insomniac's latest release, Marvel's Spider-Man 2, has recently launched on PC, and the studio is currently working on Marvel's Wolverine as their next project.
