The gaming industry has seen a surge in remakes of classic titles, with notable examples including Final Fantasy VII, Silent Hill 2, and Resident Evil 4. Adding to this trend, Kamiya has voiced his interest in remaking the original Devil May Cry. In his May 8 video, he responded to a fan's question about a potential DMC remake, stating, "A remake like that, well, I would like to do that."

First Released 2001

Devil May Cry first hit the shelves in 2001, initially conceived as Resident Evil 4. However, the project evolved significantly, leading Capcom to launch it as the standalone Devil May Cry. Reflecting on the game's origins, Kamiya revealed that the inspiration for DMC stemmed from a personal heartbreak in 2000, which fueled his creative process.

Kamiya admits he rarely revisits his past works, including DMC. Yet, when he occasionally encounters gameplay clips, he recognizes the game's age and its dated design elements. Should a remake come to fruition, Kamiya is clear about his approach: he would leverage modern technology and contemporary game design principles to create a fresh experience.

While the idea of a DMC remake is not at the forefront of his mind, Kamiya remains open to the possibility. He stated, "But if the time comes— I’ll come up with something. That’s what I do." Additionally, Kamiya expressed interest in remaking another of his creations, Viewtiful Joe. These announcements have sparked excitement among fans, who eagerly anticipate the potential return of these classic titles in a modernized form.
