Demon Hunters Tops Netflix Charts with Historic Viewership

by Eleanor Dec 21,2025

KPop Demon Hunters has officially become the most-watched film in Netflix history.

According to data released by Netflix, the movie attracted 25.4 million new views between August 18 and 24, bringing its total view count to 236 million since its June release on the platform.

Even more remarkable is that the film's audience numbers have remained virtually unchanged for three consecutive weeks—an exceptional achievement for any movie, including the biggest blockbusters. Deadline predicts that viewership will climb even higher in the coming week, as Netflix is combining viewership data for KPop Demon Hunters: The Sing-Along Event with the original film, despite them being separate titles.

Back in July, KPop Demon Hunters also became the most-watched animated film ever on Netflix.

The film has now pushed Red Notice—which previously held 230.9 million views—into second place. Other top titles include Carry-On, Don't Look Up, and The Adam Project. Last week, Night Always Comes trailed in second place with 12.3 million views, followed by Welcome to Sudden Death, My Oxford Year, and Home.

For those new to the phenomenon, KPop Demon Hunters is a Sony Pictures Animation production that follows Korean pop group Huntrix—a trio who balance their music careers with secretly fighting demons. Their mission is to stop an evil demon king from destroying humanity. In our 8/10 review, we described it as a “spectacular animated action musical” and a “terrific directorial debut by animator Maggie Kang.”

Netflix is already seeking to build on the film's success with plans for a live-action adaptation, a stage musical, sequels, and more. The company has even begun referring to the franchise as its version of Frozen. A special sing-along version of the film was released earlier this week, and select theaters held special in-person screenings over the weekend.
