Assassin’s Creed Shadows Character Will Be Played by One Piece Star Mackenyu Arata

Ubisoft's much-anticipated RPG, Assassin’s Creed Shadows, set in Feudal Japan, has just gotten more thrilling with the addition of Mackenyu to its cast. Known for his captivating performance as Roronoa Zoro in the "One Piece" series on Netflix, Mackenyu will voice the character Gennojo in both Japanese and English.

In Assassin’s Creed Shadows, Gennojo plays a crucial role, assisting the protagonist in tracking and eliminating a key target. Ubisoft describes Gennojo as "a charming, reckless, and deeply conflicted figure, driven by guilt to dismantle a corrupt system." This character is portrayed as a flirtatious rogue with a trickster's charm, navigating life with a blend of wit, deceit, and swagger. Despite his rough exterior, Gennojo is motivated by a profound sense of justice, particularly in his efforts to aid the poor and elderly.

While the exact timing of Gennojo's introduction in the game remains undisclosed, it's clear that he will be integral to the storyline and missions. Mackenyu has revealed that Gennojo is part of the "Shinobi League," a group within the game. Players will have the opportunity to "basically recruit" Gennojo, allowing him to join as a companion on their journey through the world of Assassin’s Creed Shadows.
