No Man's Sky: Your Guide to Finding, Farming, and Crafting Solanium

Solanium, a valuable resource in No Man's Sky, is exclusive to planets with specific climates. This guide details how to acquire it through gathering, farming, and crafting.

Locating Solanium

Unlike Frost Crystals, Solanium thrives on hot, arid planets. Before landing, use your starship scanner to identify planets with descriptions like "Arid," "Incandescent," "Boiling," or "Scorched." The scanner will also list Solanium as a resource if present.

Once on the planet, deploy your Analysis Visor to locate Solar Vines – tall, rock-like structures with glowing vines. These grow in clusters. Remember, you'll need a Haz-Mat Gauntlet to harvest them. While there, collect Phosphorus deposits if available; it's a key ingredient in Solanium crafting.

Farming Solanium

After progressing the Farmer's Agricultural Research mission, you can cultivate Solar Vines at your base. Use a Hydroponic Tray or Bio-Dome, planting them with 50 Solanium and 50 Phosphorus. On hot planets, direct ground planting is possible. Allow approximately 16 real-time hours for growth before harvesting.

Crafting Solanium

Several Refiner recipes yield Solanium, most requiring Phosphorus (often obtained from hot planets, or purchased from traders/Galactic Trade Terminals). Here are the recipes:

  • Solanium + Phosphorus (to create more Solanium)
  • Phosphorus + Oxygen
  • Phosphorus + Sulphurine
  • Di-hydrogen + Sulphurine

Note that all methods, including those using Sulphurine, necessitate a visit to a hot planet. Establishing a Phosphorus farm at your base ensures a consistent Sulphurine supply.
