Yes, the MSRP Is $79.99
When purchased alone, Mario Kart World costs $79.99, which is $10 more than the typical price of AAA PlayStation and Xbox games this generation. While I'm not thrilled about the price increase, I understand that game development costs have risen significantly. Hopefully, the expansive nature of Mario Kart World justifies the higher price tag.
What Is Mario Kart World?
Mario Kart World is set to be the largest Mario Kart game to date, featuring an open-world format reminiscent of the Forza Horizon series. In Grand Prix mode, you can seamlessly transition from one track to the next, creating a continuous racing experience.
The game's tracks are dynamically altered by weather conditions and the time of day, impacting visibility and traction. Players have the freedom to veer off the main tracks and explore "virtually everywhere" in the Mushroom Kingdom, as per Nintendo's promise. Each race accommodates up to 24 drivers, a significant increase from previous games.
A new mode called Knockout Tour challenges you to race across the open world, hitting checkpoints with specific placement requirements. Fall behind, and you'll be knocked out of the race. For a more relaxed experience, Free Roam mode lets you drive anywhere with friends, capturing memorable moments along the way.
More details about Mario Kart World will be revealed during the Nintendo Direct on April 17. In the meantime, check out our hands-on preview for a deeper look into the game.
