"Mario Kart World's Cow Now Eats Burgers, Steak"

In a delightful break from the usual news about tariffs and the pricing of the Nintendo Switch 2, IGN had the chance to dive into the world of Mario Kart World at a Nintendo event in New York this week. One of the standout revelations? The new playable character, the Moo Moo Meadows Cow, can indeed indulge in a variety of foods, including burgers and steak.

For those unfamiliar with the buzz, Mario Kart World recently introduced the Moo Moo Meadows Cow as a racer, sparking a wave of excitement and creativity across the internet. Fans have been busy creating memes and fanart, celebrating the transition of this once-background character into a central figure in the game.

However, the announcement also raised an intriguing question among fans. In the Nintendo Direct 2 trailer, Mario was seen eating a burger, which typically contains beef. This led to speculation about whether Cow, whose species is often associated with beef production, would also consume beef. The curiosity was palpable.

At the Nintendo preview event, the mystery was solved. The food items seen in the trailer are available at Yoshi's diner locations throughout the game's courses. These diners operate like drive-thrus, allowing racers to grab take-out bags similar to item boxes. The assortment of food includes burgers, steak kebabs, pizza, and donuts.

And yes, Cow can eat them all. IGN confirmed this with a tweet showcasing Cow enjoying a steak, dispelling any doubts about her dietary preferences.

During our session, we observed Cow consuming various items, including the much-discussed burger. While other racers undergo costume changes upon eating these foods, Cow appears unaffected. This raises questions about whether she's simply enjoying the taste, or if there's an undisclosed power-up linked to her consumption that Nintendo has yet to reveal. Could these be veggie burgers or plant-based meat alternatives?

IGN reached out to Nintendo for clarification but has not received a response yet. We're guessing they're preoccupied with the New York event, and not avoiding our perhaps slightly eccentric inquiry.
