Marvel Rivalries Heat Up: Mid-Season Shake-up Sparks Outcry, Reversal Announced
Marvel Rivals Reverses Controversial Mid-Season Rank Reset Decision

Following significant player backlash, Marvel Rivals has retracted its planned mid-season rank reset. The developer announced the reversal in Dev Talk 11, a swift response to the negative reception of Dev Talk 10, which detailed a system dropping players four divisions mid-season.
The initial proposal for resets every 45 days proved too discouraging for many players striving for higher ranks. Dev Talk 11 confirmed that no mid-season reset will occur; players will retain their current rank and score from the first half of the season. However, the end-of-season reset, dropping players six divisions, remains in effect.
New Heroes and Continued Updates

Despite the rank reset reversal, other planned updates are proceeding as scheduled. The highly anticipated addition of Human Torch and The Thing, expanding the hero roster to 39, is still on track. NetEase Games’ commitment to releasing two new heroes per three-month season remains unchanged.
Rewards for achieving Gold rank and above also remain. Players who reach Gold will receive an Invisible Woman costume, while Grandmaster and above receive Crests of Honor. Further rewards, including additional costumes and Crests of Honor, will be awarded at the end of the season for reaching Gold and above, respectively. Balance adjustments are also planned for a post-mid-season update, though specifics are yet to be revealed.
Community Feedback and Developer Response

Marvel Rivals' rapid response to player concerns highlights their commitment to community feedback. The swift turnaround from announcing the unpopular reset to its cancellation demonstrated a willingness to listen and adapt. The developers emphasized the importance of community engagement, stating their dedication to creating the best possible game experience.
The mid-season update is scheduled for February 21, 2025. Marvel Rivals is available on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC. Stay informed about the latest game news by visiting our dedicated Marvel Rivals page.
