The Parry ability is located in the middle column at the top. To access it, you must first invest an Ability point into one of the three core trees. Once you've done that, you can unlock Parry.

Parry comes in three ranks, each with its own level requirements and benefits:

How to Parry Attacks in Avowed

You'll hear a distinctive metal clanking sound and see a visual indicator on your screen as the enemy staggers from your parry. The timing can vary between enemies, but with practice, you'll master this skill. It's less challenging than in games like *Dark Souls* or *Elden Ring*.

Parrying Isn’t Always an Option

Keep in mind that not all attacks can be parried. Attacks marked by a red circle must be dodged instead. Additionally, not all weapons in *Avowed* support parrying. Single-handed and two-handed weapons can generally parry if they're not in your off-hand. Shields in the off-hand can also parry, but ranged weapons like guns, wands, bows, and grimoires cannot.

What Parrying Does (& Why You Might Want to Do It)

Parrying in *Avowed* is a powerful tool for melee-focused characters. It stuns your attacker, providing an opportunity to deal significant damage while avoiding taking hits yourself. This ability is less beneficial for ranged-focused builds. However, *Avowed* offers an easy and affordable respec system, allowing you to change your abilities, including Parry, if it doesn't suit your playstyle.

With these tips and techniques, you're now equipped to master the art of parrying in *Avowed* and enhance your combat prowess. Happy gaming!
