by Layla Oct 21,2025

Monster Hunter Wilds has achieved record-breaking sales, surpassing eight million units sold within just three days – making it Capcom's fastest-selling title to reach this milestone.

Capcom reports that Wilds' launch performance significantly outpaced previous franchise entries, exceeding Monster Hunter World's five million copies shipped in 2018 and Monster Hunter Rise's four million units in 2021.

The success comes as no shock, given Wilds' Steam launch saw over one million concurrent players during its opening weekend – surpassing Cyberpunk 2077 to become the platform's seventh most-played game of all time. This surge also helped Steam achieve its first-ever 40 million concurrent user milestone.

In IGN's Monster Hunter Wilds review, we praised how it "streamlines the series' traditional complexities while delivering exhilarating battles, though veterans might crave greater difficulty."

Capcom also announced the Monster Hunter franchise – which launched in 2004 on PlayStation 2 – has now surpassed 108 million total sales worldwide as of December 31, 2024.
