First Mortal Kombat 1 T-1000 Gameplay Looks Straight Out of Terminator 2, and There's a Surprise Kameo DLC Character Coming Too
NetherRealm Studios unleashes T-1000 and Madam Bo in Mortal Kombat 1 DLC.
Get ready for some liquid metal mayhem! NetherRealm has unveiled gameplay footage of the T-1000, the final DLC character for the Khaos Reigns expansion. The footage showcases a range of attacks reminiscent of Terminator 2, including blade and hook arm maneuvers, liquid metal transformations, and a ground-rising uppercut similar to Glacius from Killer Instinct. Robert Patrick, the original T-1000 actor, provides the voice and likeness, featured in a clash with Johnny Cage. A highlight is a Fatality recreating the iconic Terminator 2 truck chase scene.
Adding to the excitement, Madam Bo, a fan-favorite character from the main story, joins the fray as a DLC Kameo fighter, available simultaneously with the T-1000. Brief glimpses of Madam Bo's gameplay are shown in the trailer.
The T-1000 will be playable for Khaos Reigns early access owners on March 18th, with general release on March 25th. Madam Bo arrives as a free update for Khaos Reigns owners on March 18th, or as a separate purchase.
The T-1000 concludes the Khaos Reigns DLC roster, following Cyrax, Sektor, Noob Saibot, Ghostface, and Conan the Barbarian. Speculation about a potential third Kombat Pack remains, fueled by the franchise's continued success and Warner Bros. Discovery's commitment to the Mortal Kombat brand. CEO David Zaslav confirmed the company's intention to focus on four key titles, with Mortal Kombat among them.
Ed Boon, Mortal Kombat's creative director, previously stated NetherRealm selected its next project three years ago, while promising continued support for Mortal Kombat 1. While many anticipate a third Injustice game, neither NetherRealm nor Warner Bros. has confirmed this. Boon cited the COVID-19 pandemic and the transition to Unreal Engine 4 as factors influencing the decision to develop another Mortal Kombat title before returning to Injustice. However, he explicitly stated that the Injustice franchise remains a possibility.
