Team Ninja declared 2025 "The Year of the Ninja," culminating in the surprise reveal of Ninja Gaiden 4 and the remastered Ninja Gaiden 2 Black during the Xbox Developer Direct 2025. This marks a significant return for the franchise, with Ninja Gaiden 4 being the first mainline entry in over a decade.

Developed collaboratively by Team Ninja and PlatinumGames, Ninja Gaiden 4 directly follows the events of Ninja Gaiden 3. The game retains the series' signature challenging yet rewarding gameplay, promising a thrilling experience for veterans and newcomers alike. The partnership with Xbox is a natural progression, given Microsoft's long-standing relationship with Team Ninja.

A New Protagonist Takes Center Stage

Ninja Gaiden 4 introduces Yakumo, a young ninja from the rival Raven clan, striving to become a Master Ninja. Art Director Tomoko Nishii (PlatinumGames) described Yakumo's design as aiming to create a character who could stand alongside Ryu Hayabusa, the series' iconic protagonist. While Yakumo takes the lead, Ryu Hayabusa remains a crucial figure in the narrative, serving as both a formidable opponent and a source of inspiration for Yakumo. Rest assured, Ryu Hayabusa will also be playable.

Evolved Combat and New Styles

Ninja Gaiden 4 delivers fast-paced, brutal combat, a hallmark of the series. Yakumo's arsenal includes two distinct fighting styles: Raven Style and the new Bloodbind Ninjutsu Nue Style. While different from Ryu's approach, the developers assure fans that the action will remain true to the Ninja Gaiden spirit, blending the series' signature challenge with PlatinumGames' dynamic combat flair.
