PlayStation Plus Update: Extended Free Trial for Five Days

Sony addressed the nearly day-long PlayStation Network (PSN) outage this past weekend, attributing it to an unspecified "operational issue" in a social media statement. The company offered no further explanation regarding the root cause or preventative measures.
To compensate PlayStation Plus subscribers, Sony will automatically add five extra days to their subscriptions.
Gamers experienced widespread disruptions throughout the outage, with over one-third unable to log in and others reporting server crashes.
The incident has reignited criticism of Sony's requirement for a PSN account, even for single-player games on PC. This policy, opponents argue, creates unnecessary dependence on the PSN's stability.
This isn't Sony's first major PSN disruption. The April 2011 data breach resulted in over 20 days of connectivity problems. While less severe, the recent outage has left PS5 users frustrated by Sony's lack of transparency and detailed explanation.
