Plug In Digital Launches Abalone Game

Plug In Digital has launched a new Android game—a digital adaptation of the beloved board game Abalone. Think of the hexagonal board and those signature black and white marbles, but this mobile edition brings a fresh splash of color to the classic look.

If you’re new to Abalone, here's a quick intro. Created by Michel Lalet and Laurent Lévi in 1987, the board game hit the market in 1990. It’s a two-player abstract strategy title that rose to fame in the '90s.

Each player commands 14 marbles, black or white, and takes turns shifting them across a hexagonal board with 61 spaces. The goal? Push six of your opponent’s marbles off the board’s edge.

So, What’s Different in the Digital Abalone?

The mobile version sticks to the same core rules. You can customize everything from marble and board styles to frame designs, and even tweak gameplay rules to match your preferences.

The user interface is sleek and easy to navigate. Fans of the original board game will feel right at home, while newcomers will find it straightforward to pick up and play.

The game offers several modes—take on AI opponents or face other players in multiplayer. Ready to outsmart your rivals, defend your marbles, and shove theirs off the edge? Abalone is available now on the Google Play Store.

Before you go, don’t miss our next exclusive: Cardjo, a Skyjo-inspired card game, is now in soft launch on Android.
