Pokémon Company Tackles TCG Shortages, Scalpers Post-Destined Rivals
The Pokémon Company has taken a significant step in addressing the frustrations fans have experienced in acquiring recent Pokémon Trading Card Game (TCG) sets. In an official statement, they've confirmed plans for reprints and emphasized their commitment to improving product availability for enthusiasts.
The latest set, Pokémon TCG: Scarlet & Violet - Destined Rivals, encountered multiple issues including shortages, problems with pre-orders, and the inevitable presence of scalpers. This set, along with other sought-after releases like Prismatic Evolutions and the Blooming Waters box, have been notoriously hard to obtain due to overwhelming demand.

In their statement on the official Pokémon website, The Pokémon Company (TPC) acknowledged the difficulties fans face in purchasing certain TCG products due to high demand affecting availability. "We understand this inconvenience can be disappointing for fans, and we are actively working to print more of the impacted Pokémon TCG products as quickly as possible and at maximum capacity to address this," the statement read. They assured fans that reprints would soon be available at participating retailers.
TPC also announced plans to maximize production for future TCG expansions to ensure better availability at launch and to continue reprinting affected products to restock, including for the Pokémon Center.
In response to scalping, The Pokémon Company subtly addressed the issue by stating their dedication to a seamless purchasing experience on the Pokémon Center. They employ technology such as a virtual queue during high-traffic periods to prioritize fans. "We will continue to explore measures that help create the best possible experience for Pokémon Center customers," they added, expressing gratitude for the community's patience and support as they strive to deliver more Pokémon TCG products to fans.
With these measures in place, fans of the Pokémon TCG can hope for a less stressful experience when new sets hit the market. The Pokémon Company's commitment to addressing these issues is a promising sign for the future of the beloved card game.
