Pokémon Legends: Z-A Slated for Nintendo Switch 2
Pokémon Legends: Z-A, the highly anticipated new installment, will launch on October 16, 2025, along with a Nintendo Switch 2 Edition, The Pokémon Company has announced. Preorders will be available starting June 5.
A new Pokémon Presents broadcast is scheduled for July 22, promising fresh news and updates from the Pokémon universe. Additionally, The Pokémon Company has launched a new line of Mega Evolution merchandise, now available on the Pokémon Center online store.
Gamers who buy Pokémon Legends: Z-A for Nintendo Switch—either physically or digitally—can upgrade to the Nintendo Switch 2 Edition for an extra $10 via the Nintendo eShop or My Nintendo Store. This enhanced version includes superior graphics and higher framerates.
The official cover art has also been revealed, depicting the main characters and their partner Pokémon in a night-time battle against a Mega-Evolved Pokémon within Lumiose City.
Here’s the official description:
Pokémon Legends: Z-A introduces a groundbreaking direction for the Pokémon video game series, merging a rich RPG narrative set entirely in one city with action gameplay and a real-time battle system unlike anything previously seen. Trainers can anticipate embarking on a brand-new adventure in Lumiose City—a tale woven by the bonds between people and Pokémon!

As part of a broader celebration honoring fan-favorite Mega-Evolved Pokémon, enthusiasts can expect themed products and experiences throughout the year. Pokémon Center will roll out new apparel, accessories, plush toys, and more featuring Mega-Evolved Pokémon.
Starting now, fans can collect large pins showcasing Mega Charizard X and Mega Charizard Y, as well as shop a curated capsule collection of apparel and accessories highlighting Mega Venusaur, Mega Gengar, Mega Lucario, and other Mega Evolutions.

Beginning next month, fans in the U.S., Canada, or the U.K. who preorder Pokémon Legends: Z-A via Pokémon Center will receive a random Pokémon Sitting Cuties plush—featuring Chikorita, Tepig, or Totodile—as a complimentary gift with their purchase.
Pokémon Legends: Z-A was originally unveiled during last year's Pokémon Presents with a cinematic trailer presenting a futuristic Lumiose City. Initial details were sparse, confirming only a Nintendo Switch release within the year and brief teases of Pokémon. A subsequent Pokémon Direct earlier this year provided a longer glimpse, showcasing various Pokémon, introducing new characters, and revealing the protagonist sprinting across the city's rooftops.
