Lenovo has just opened preorders for its highly anticipated 2025 model, the Lenovo Legion Pro 7i Gen 10 gaming laptop. This powerhouse comes loaded with cutting-edge technology, including the latest Intel processor and Nvidia graphics card, a stunning high-resolution OLED display, and ample RAM and SSD storage right out of the box. Even though it's still listed as a preorder, Lenovo has begun shipping units, with deliveries expected as early as late April.

$3,599.99 at Lenovo

The Lenovo Legion Pro 7i Gen 10 features a 16" 2560x1600 240Hz OLED display, powered by the Intel Core Ultra 9 275HX CPU and the Nvidia GeForce RTX 5080 GPU. It also comes with 32GB of DDR5-6400MHz RAM and a spacious 2TB (2x1TB) SSD. The Intel Core Ultra 9 275HX is significantly more powerful than the Core Ultra 9 185H found in previous flagship models, which prioritized energy efficiency over performance. This new processor truly complements the RTX 5080 GPU, making it a formidable combination.

The Legion Pro 7i also includes modern connectivity options like WiFi 7 and Bluetooth 5.4, along with versatile ports such as USB Type-C with up to 140W Power Delivery, Thunderbolt 4 with DisplayPort 2.1 (40Gbps), and a USB Type-A port with USB 3.2 Gen 2 specifications. It maintains an RJ45 ethernet port, which is becoming increasingly rare, and offers a privacy shutter for the webcam. The laptop's chassis, made of aluminum and magnesium, ensures durability and a premium feel.

We've Reviewed an RTX 5080 Equipped Gaming Laptop

Although we haven't yet tested Lenovo's latest Legion laptop, we have evaluated another gaming laptop equipped with the RTX 5080 GPU. The RTX 5080 offers a slight edge over the RTX 4080 in terms of raw rasterized performance, but shines significantly when games support DLSS 4.0 with multi-frame generation. The Gigabyte Aorus Master laptop, which we reviewed, features an RTX 5080 with a 150W TGP rating and a 2560x1600 display—similar to the Lenovo Legion Pro 7i. Thus, we expect the Legion Pro 7i to deliver comparable performance in gaming scenarios.

Gigabyte Aorus Master 16" RTX 5080 Laptop Review by Chris Coke

"Here's the thing: Nvidia hasn't been shy about emphasizing the 50-series' AI capabilities over pure native rendering performance. Though the RTX 5080 performs disappointingly close to the RTX 4080, the gap closes when playing games that support multi-frame generation. While 'fake frames' have become somewhat of a meme, their impact when working correctly is impressive, significantly boosting performance. This varies from game to game, depending on how well they manage latency. For instance, Alan Wake 2 feels a bit more laggy at higher multiplier settings, whereas Cyberpunk 2077 does not. With technologies like multi-frame generation and neural shaders coming to future games, there's a compelling case for investing in these emerging technologies. However, you're essentially buying into a promise as Nvidia and game developers continue to integrate these features into new and existing titles."
