"Retired R2-D2 LEGO Set Now on Sale at Amazon"

by Leo May 16,2025

Amazon still has some retired LEGO sets available for purchase, including the super detailed to-scale R2-D2 set, which was retired in January 2025. You can snag it now for $221.27, which is an 8% discount off the original price. Star Wars and LEGO have a storied history together, starting back in 1999. Over the years, they've released a wide range of sets, from simple playsets perfect for kids to intricate, display-worthy models that any collector would be proud to showcase. The R2-D2 set falls into the latter category, making it a must-have for any Star Wars fan's collection due to its impressive size and meticulous detail.

This R2-D2 build was recently available at a discount during Star Wars Day, but we don't expect it to stay below MSRP for long. If you're interested, now's the time to act!

Retired LEGO R2-D2 Is Still Available at Amazon

-----------------------------------------------

LEGO R2-D2

Originally priced at $239.99, you can now save 8% and purchase it for $221.27 at Amazon. This 2,315-piece set is the most detailed R2-D2 LEGO has ever produced. IGN had the pleasure of assembling this set when it was first released, and we thoroughly enjoyed the building process. Standing over a foot tall, you can pose R2 in various ways, and every detail from the movies is meticulously included. The third leg retracts, the front hatches open and close, and the periscope extends from R2's head. LEGO's attention to detail is unparalleled, ensuring that every color, wire, tube, and light on R2's body is as screen-accurate as possible. If you can grab this set before it's gone, it will complement the best LEGO Star Wars sets to build in 2025 beautifully.

R2-D2's most recent on-screen appearance was in 2021, in episode 6 of "The Book of Boba Fett," titled "From the Desert Comes a Stranger." This episode is notable for featuring a CGI de-aged Luke Skywalker, the first (and last) live-action appearance of bounty hunter Cad Bane, and, of course, our beloved blue and white astromech droid. We rated this episode a seven, noting that it focused more on "The Mandalorian" and nostalgic Star Wars elements than on its protagonist.
