Rockstar Releases Bully Anniversary Update After Six Years

Rockstar, the creators of the GTA series, have released an Anniversary Edition update for Bully on mobile platforms. After a six-year hiatus, this update is a significant refresh for the game, though it's exclusively available on mobile devices, leaving console and PC players without the new features.

Rockstar Hasn’t Forgotten about Bullworth Academy!

Bully: Anniversary Edition now includes support for new languages and has been enhanced with a focus on stability and bug fixes. Notably, Rockstar has temporarily disabled Friends Challenges while they work on further improvements.

The update introduces Screen Space Ambient Occlusion (SSAO) for Android users with compatible devices, refreshes the app icon, and adds haptic feedback for a more immersive experience on both Android and iOS platforms.

Several mission-specific issues have been resolved, such as the locker-picking glitch in the mission ‘That Bitch’ and progression issues in ‘Weed Killer’ when the window is broken prematurely. Additionally, the notorious problem of police cars falling through the floor during ‘The Rumble’ has been fixed.

The update also addresses gameplay anomalies, like enemies not engaging Jimmy Hopkins in combat, which previously resulted in unbalanced fights. Moreover, it tackles crashes that could occur when starting a new game or loading a save from the pause menu.

What Do Players Have to Say about Bully: Anniversary Edition?

While fans have been clamoring for Bully 2 for years, Rockstar appears to have shifted focus to other projects. Reports suggest that a sequel was in development during the 2010s but was eventually shelved to prioritize Red Dead Redemption 2 and GTA Online.

With GTA 6 currently in development and many original Bully team members having left Rockstar, the prospects for a Bully 2 seem dim. However, this new update for Bully: Anniversary Edition is a welcome enhancement for mobile gamers, though it's not the full remaster or sequel many hoped for.

For those new to the series, Bully offers a unique take on the sandbox genre, set in the fictional Bullworth Academy. Players take on the role of Jimmy Hopkins, a rebellious teen navigating the trials and tribulations of high school life, infused with Rockstar's signature humor and open-world antics.

You can dive into Bully: Anniversary Edition on the Google Play Store for €7.99, complete with full gamepad support.
