Ryan Reynolds Explains Deadpool's Solo Path, Avoiding Avengers and X-Men
Ryan Reynolds, the charismatic actor behind the iconic Deadpool, has stirred the pot by questioning whether his character will ever join the ranks of the Avengers or the X-Men. In a recent interview with Time, Reynolds suggested that Deadpool's inclusion in these teams would signal the character's narrative "end," as it would fulfill his ultimate wish. This statement comes amidst speculation fueled by the success of "Deadpool & Wolverine," where Deadpool's desire to join the Avengers is a central theme.
Last month's announcement of the cast for "Avengers: Doomsday" prominently featured several actors from the X-Men franchise, including Kelsey Grammer, Patrick Stewart, Ian McKellen, Alan Cumming, Rebecca Romijn, and James Marsden. This has led to speculation that "Avengers: Doomsday" might secretly be an "Avengers vs. X-Men" movie. However, Reynolds' name was notably absent from the list of confirmed stars, which did include Channing Tatum, who played Gambit in "Deadpool & Wolverine."
Reynolds hinted that a cameo appearance, similar to Wesley Snipes' well-received role as Blade in "Deadpool & Wolverine," might be more fitting for Deadpool than a full-fledged membership in either superhero team. This suggests that fans might see Deadpool in a supporting role rather than as a permanent member of the Avengers or X-Men.
Looking ahead, Reynolds is currently working on a new project that he describes as an "ensemble," though he remains tight-lipped about the details. This could potentially mean another Deadpool film with a focus on cameos, possibly involving characters like Snipes' Blade, Tatum's Gambit, Jennifer Garner's Elektra, and Dafne Keen's Laura Kinney/X-23, all of whom appeared in "Deadpool & Wolverine."

As for "Avengers: Doomsday," details beyond the cast list remain scarce. Anthony Mackie, who will reprise his role as Sam Wilson/Captain America, expressed optimism about the film, suggesting it will recapture the classic Marvel feel. Other cast members like Paul Rudd (Ant-Man) and Joseph Quinn (Human Torch) have also shared their excitement. A recent set photo leak has sparked further speculation among fans, with some fearing it might spell trouble for the X-Men's involvement.
Adding to the intrigue, Oscar Isaac's absence from the Star Wars Celebration due to scheduling conflicts has led to rumors that he might appear as Moon Knight in "Avengers: Doomsday." Marvel Studios producer Kevin Feige has confirmed that the announced cast is not exhaustive, hinting at more surprises to come.
