Samsung Galaxy S25 Edge: Unveiled and Ultra-Slim

by Caleb May 16,2025

Samsung unveiled the Galaxy S25 Edge at its May Unpacked event, marking its latest addition to the top-end smartphone lineup. This new model, while sharing many similarities with the earlier 2025 release, the Galaxy S25, boasts a significantly thinner design, aptly named "Edge."

The Samsung Galaxy S25 Edge closely mirrors the specs of the Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra, including the powerful Snapdragon 8 Elite chipset and a high-resolution 200MP camera. The standout feature is its slimmer chassis, reduced to just 5.8mm from the 8.2mm of the Galaxy S25 Ultra, making it lighter at only 163g.

Despite its slim profile, the Galaxy S25 Edge maintains the same 6.7-inch AMOLED 2X display found in the Galaxy S25, which is slightly smaller than the 6.9-inch display of the Galaxy S25 Ultra.

Given its thin and large form factor, durability is a critical consideration. Samsung addresses this by incorporating the new Gorilla Glass Ceramic 2, which they claim is more durable than the Gorilla Glass Armor 2 used in the Galaxy S25 Ultra. While this should help with drop resistance, the real test will be how it holds up against everyday stresses, like being sat on in a pocket. Will it withstand the potential for a "bendgate" scenario?

The Galaxy S25 Edge comes equipped with the same suite of "Mobile AI" tools introduced with the Samsung Galaxy S24 and refined in 2025. Thanks to the Snapdragon 8 Elite, many AI functions can be processed locally on the device, enhancing privacy. However, some AI applications will still rely on cloud computing. Notable features include the ability to summarize notifications and news articles quickly.

Available for preorder starting today, the Samsung Galaxy S25 Edge is priced at $1,099 for the 256GB model and $1,219 for the 512GB model. It is offered in three color options: Titanium Silver, Titanium Jet Black, and Titanium Icyblue.

Samsung emphasizes the durability of this slim design, and we can only hope it lives up to their claims.
