Unveiling the New Trailer
The March 13, 2025 Silent Hill Transmission offered fans a fresh look at Silent Hill f, including a captivating new trailer. Breaking from tradition, the game is set in 1960s Japan. The narrative follows Shimizu Hinako, an ordinary teenager whose life takes a horrifying turn when her town is enveloped in a mysterious fog and undergoes a terrifying transformation. Hinako must navigate this unrecognizable landscape, solving puzzles, battling strange creatures, and ultimately confronting a devastating choice. This is a story of a beautiful, yet terrifying decision.
Silent Hill f unfolds in the fictional Japanese town of Ebisugaoka, inspired by a real-life location in Kanayama, Gero, Gifu Prefecture. Developers meticulously recreated the town, capturing its intricate alleyways using reference photos, ambient sounds of daily life, and historical materials to accurately reflect the 1960s setting.
Finding Beauty Within Terror

According to series producer Motoi Okamoto, the core concept behind Silent Hill f is "finding the beauty in terror." While retaining the series' signature psychological horror, the team sought to explore the unique atmosphere of a Japanese setting and its thematic possibilities.
Okamoto explains, "Japanese horror often presents terror within beauty. Excessive beauty can become deeply unsettling. Players will experience this world through the eyes of a young girl facing a beautiful yet terrifying choice."
A Standalone Silent Hill Experience

Okamoto emphasizes that Silent Hill f is a self-contained story, accessible to newcomers to the series. Long-time fans, however, will discover subtle easter eggs throughout the game. He also hints that fans of Ryukishi07, renowned for his psychological Japanese horror visual novels, will find much to appreciate.
As a long-time Silent Hill fan, Ryukishi07, having played every game in the series, views Silent Hill f as both a return to the franchise's roots and a new set of challenges. A key challenge was creating a true Silent Hill experience without relying on the namesake town.
He states, "From a creator's perspective, I confidently believe we've made a Silent Hill game. However, we're eager to see how long-time fans react and whether they agree."
Silent Hill f is now available to wishlist on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC. A specific release date has yet to be announced. For the latest updates on Silent Hill f, check out our related article!
