Silent Hill f Steam Deck Compatible, But Not Quite Verified
Silent Hill f will be playable on the Steam Deck, but it requires some configuration to ensure optimal performance. Dive deeper to understand Valve's Steam Deck classification for Silent Hill f and the game's PC requirements.
Silent Hill f Official Testing Results For Steam Deck Released
Playable But Requires Configuration
Valve's official testing results indicate that Silent Hill f is playable on the Steam Deck. However, it falls short of the "verified" status due to the need for specific configurations to ensure full compatibility with the handheld device. To earn the "verified" badge, a game must seamlessly integrate with the device's controls and display, passing Valve's stringent tests for input, display, seamlessness, and system support.
The game functions well with the default controller configuration and displays Steam Deck controller icons. Yet, some in-game text appears small and may be challenging to read. Additionally, manual adjustments are necessary to optimize the game's performance on the Steam Deck.
This represents a significant enhancement over the Silent Hill 2 Remake, which initially lacked support for the Steam Deck despite efforts to enhance its compatibility. As Konami has not yet disclosed an official release date for Silent Hill f, there is still ample opportunity for further optimization.
PC System Requirements
Konami unveiled the PC system requirements for Silent Hill f on its Steam store page last month. These specifications provide insight into how the game might perform on the Steam Deck. Below is a detailed breakdown of the minimum and recommended system requirements.
The minimum specs, featuring an NVIDIA GTX 1070, support the game at 720p resolution and 30fps on Performance Quality settings. Given the Steam Deck's GPU, players may experience a slight performance drop compared to these minimum PC requirements. While running the game at 720p on the Steam Deck might not be too taxing, connecting the device to an HD TV could reveal these limitations more noticeably. Konami also recommends using an SSD for optimal performance.
The recommended specs offer players the choice between Performance settings at 60fps or Quality settings at 30fps, both of which mandate an SSD.
During the latest Silent Hill Transmission on March 13, fans received a glimpse into what Silent Hill f has in store. The game is currently available for wishlisting on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC.
