Silksong Is Real And Will Release, Reassures PR Manager

Team Cherry's Marketing and PR Manager, Matthew Griffin, confirms that Hollow Knight: Silksong is still under active development and will eventually be released. This follows recent speculation ignited by a cake-related profile picture change by a co-creator, which proved to be unrelated to any Silksong announcement.

Griffin's statement on X (formerly Twitter) directly addressed fan concerns, assuring them that the game is real, progressing, and slated for release. This marks the first official update in over a year and a half, offering much-needed reassurance to the dedicated fanbase.

The initial excitement over the co-creator's profile picture change led to rumors of an ARG or a Nintendo Switch 2 announcement. However, these were quickly dispelled, leaving some fans feeling misled. Griffin's subsequent confirmation, while welcome, has been met with mixed reactions.

A Long-Awaited Sequel

Announced in February 2019 with an initial target release of the first half of 2023, Silksong was delayed in May 2023 due to its increased scope and the developers' desire for further refinement. The game promises a new kingdom, nearly 150 new enemies, and a challenging "Silk Soul" mode. The delay, now approaching two years, has understandably led to some fan impatience.

While some fans expressed relief and support for the developers, others remain frustrated by the lack of concrete details and a release date. The game is expected to launch across multiple platforms: PC, Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X|S, and Xbox One. Players will follow Hornet, the princess-protector of Hallownest, on a perilous journey to the kingdom's peak. A release window remains unannounced.
